Hey young world, let me introduce myself, My name is Travon Bryant, from Long Beach, California. I was inspired to start this blog to inform my people back home what really goes on during my season and how different it is living in a different country, and the other reason is to kill time cause it can get pretty boring.
My occupation is my love and my favorite hobby, I am a professional basketball player who currently plays in Athens,Greece. I have also had the chance to play in Italy and Germany as well. I can't complain one bit about what I get to do for a living, when I look at it I spend my time staying in shape site seeing and surrounding myself in a different culture and the best part is to get paid for it and paid well.
Since this my 1st entry and it happens to be around the holiday season, I will talk about the difficulties of being away. Its crazy for me to be away from my family since I am really close with my mother(Sabra) and my brother (D'cean). On a holiday that is spent around family where its based on eating and drinking, I've learn to value the time that I have around them during the summer months. You learn to understand that it is truly the little things that make the difference in life. It's kind of sad that I have got use to being away during Thanksgiving, the last time I was at home for Thanksgiving was during my senior year in high school.
The one cool thing about being over here is that I have a lot of Americans as well who play basketball, or who are studying abroad. Whenever we have a chance to hangout we do so, but its rare because all of our schedules are different, but its good to know you have that outlet there when you need it. Athens to me is a city that is very easy to get adjusted to, that is credited to the American restaurants like Fridays, Applebees, Ruby Tuesdays and you have your other establishments like a traditional mexican restaurant( family is greek-american who lived in New Mexico). On top of that almost everyone speaks English which is good, but you also want to learn a little of the native language and have the full experience.
I can go on and on about this, because this is years in the making. So I will leave it up to you guys about what I should talk about, its kind of like me being a extention to you guys......please drop comments on topics that your interested in..............God Bless.
